Luca on stage at an Arduino conference, presenting his robots built with Arduino UNO Q and VENTUNO Q

Building robots from scratch.

From design to finished prototype, using 3D printing, CNC machining and custom PCBs.

An interactive desktop humanoid, powered by vision, voice and LLMs.

An interactive humanoid for the desk, 72 cm from the base to the top of the head, built around the new Arduino VENTUNO Q. Its name is Neo: it follows people with a camera in its head, takes and looks at objects with one in its chest, listens and answers out loud, and all of it runs on the robot itself, with no cloud. Eyes on a 5 inch screen, two arms with two-finger hands, and an emergency stop on the back.

Six disciplines, one workflow.

Most projects need a designer, a printer, an assembler and a programmer. Here they are the same person, so nothing is lost between one step and the next.

CAD modelling

Parametric design of single parts or full assemblies.

Reverse engineering

From an existing part to a 3D model, for spares out of production.

3D printing

FDM in PLA, PETG, ABS and technical materials.

Rapid prototyping

Fast iterations to validate form, fit and strength.

Assembly

Mechanical and electronic build, wiring, integration.

Firmware

Microcontroller code for things that move, sense and respond.

Projects.

Machines built end to end here, from the CAD file to the firmware. Some of them are published on Arduino’s official Project Hub.

How a job runs.

01

Conversation

You describe the problem. We define constraints, materials and quantity.

02

Design

CAD modelling, reviewed together before anything is printed.

03

Prototype

Print and test. Corrected until the part does what it should.

04

Delivery

Finished assembled part, or production-ready files.

I’m Luca Di Lorenzo. I design and build robots and mechanical objects from scratch.

I’m a software engineer working full-time as a maker near Rome. My job is taking an idea from sketch to a part that actually works: CAD, 3D printing, CNC, electronics, firmware.

Everything I build, I document and share. My models have been downloaded over 150k times on MakerWorld, and I work with Arduino and Bambu Lab.

Right now I’m building my first desktop humanoid, Neo: the kind of project I like most, hard, mechanical, and made entirely in-house.

Tell me what you need building.

For a project, a collaboration or just to hear what is coming next, write to this address. A sketch on paper is enough to start; if you already have CAD files, attach them. Replies within one working day.
